Description: The use of a company’s PSS design process models is a best practice to support PSS development. It should serve both as for assisting project management (scope definition, etc.) as for guiding people during the project accomplishment. There are some proposals of PSS generic process models that could be a reference for defining company’s specific PSS process models. Those models are however only partially appropriated, since the abstraction level of their activities don’t let someone defines a company’s specific process models that fulfill the mentioned requirements. There must not be a generic process model that fulfills all specific requirements of a company. So, the objective of this research is to propose a method that supports companies in defining their own PSS design process model according to their specific requirements and strategies. For that a synthesis of the existing PSS design processes will be carried out. Based on it this research proposes a method for identifying possible elements of a to-be specific process model, which is divided in two steps: to filter from the synthesis only the applicable activities and deliverables to be analysed; and to compare the current PSS design capability of a company with this remained elements of the synthesis in order to identify potential gaps. Moreover, to any element of the synthesis a comprehensive compilation of design methods will be performed to associate them to the synthesis, so that the gap analysis can result in proposals of design methods that can support the specific model. As result it is expected to define a tailored made roadmap to successfully instantiate the specific PSS design process model.
